40 years making history in infant education
“Centro de Educación Infantil Menagar” was founded in 1981 and authorised by the Ministry of Education and Culture as an Infant Education centre for children aged 0 to 6. Its approach to teaching is based on the motto: “Let me grow up slowly” which was coined by its founder, María del Carmen Menarguez De Frutos.
With her love for children and joy, María del Carmen Menarguez filled the school with fun and harmony every day. Her career was dedicated to education and she received numerous awards over the years, such as the one she received from the OMEP (World Organization for Pre-school Education) on May 9, 1985. See letter of recognition
The award specifically recognised her great work in caring for the students, highlighting her involvement in the teaching-learning process on an individual basis, as well as her close and professional contact with the families of the children attending the centre.
This is why, almost 40 years later, our school still breathes a warm atmosphere of respect and love for children. Vocation is the driving force behind each of the educational undertaking we carry out and inspires each routine, activity or game.
Since 1986, Maribel Correa Menarguez (daughter of the founder) has been involved in education as an infant educator as well as an educational psychologist for the families of children attending the centre and in 2004, she took over its management. For more than 30 years she has shown her dedication, professionalism and affection that has made those who were once her pupils decide to have their children attend the school.
Throughout these decades we have maintained an attitude of joy, kindness, respect, dedication, values that could easily be transferred to today’s society. We like to continue to advocate our own educational project, based on an education that respects the pace of each child. We educate in human values and work in an individualised way. We want our centre to be for the child an extension of the home, in continuous cooperation with the family.
Menagar as an educational community
Since our beginnings we have established a committed relationship with the community, helping neighbours when necessary or collaborating with various centres.
The educational community is made up of five classrooms for the first cycle of infant education and a multipurpose room. We have a quality educational team, as well as administration and service professionals who guarantee permanent attention to the children and their families.
As part of our efforts to educate and train our pupils as happy, responsible and respectful individuals, we have created an innovative vision in line with today’s society. In this sense, we have developed our own innovative projects, particularly the integration of information and communication tools both in the classroom and in the daily life of our students. We have also opted for a cutting-edge educational methodology, always looking for improvement as well as achieving educational excellence. We have incorporated new pedagogies to our approach, such as the arts and environment project and, in view of contributing to the full development of our pupils, we have integrated yoga, mindfulness and smile meditation techniques.
Our nursery school, respecting the message of our founder, continues to maintain the essential mission of educating and caring for its pupils in accordance with their educational and personal needs.
