Summer camp

Summer camp

We present to you the project for our 2021 summer camp (from 1 to 31 July) for children up to 5 years old. This time, our camp will revolve around the world of stories and will be called “Discovering stories”. All our activities will be related to water, taking advantage of the fact that it is one of the children’s favourite games.

Each week during the month of July we will be covering a story with which we will enjoy different activities and games. All this in a playful and fun atmosphere, encouraging learning and creativity in children. In addition, we will cultivate their passion for books, the art of performing, their imagination, theatre and above all, laughter.

The camp will be run by the Menagar team in its entirety to make it a very fun experience.

CAMP PROGRAMME

As an example of the activities we are going to enjoy during the month of July, we will detail part of one of our weekly programmes where you will be able find activities related to crafts, storytelling, dance, etc. Every week we will enjoy, in addition to our activities involving more motion and energy, children’s yoga and mindfulness sessions as well as experimentation activities, chess, robotics, looking after our vegetable garden while being in contact with nature, etc.

1ST WEEK, 1-9 JULY: “FINDING NEMO”

  • Activity: “Making our own Nemo”: We will be telling the story of “Finding Nemo”. Then, we will make our own fish with different materials and decorate it as we like using tempera, paint, silk paper, etc. We are sure it will be very pretty as we are great artists.
  • Activity: “Storytelling under black light”: We will make the characters of the story out of fluorescent materials so that only these figures will be visible when lit under ultraviolet light on a black background.
  • Activity: “Building a starfish”: We will use previously disassembled wooden pegs for clothes and glue the external parts together. Once we have five of them, we will glue them together from only one end in order to create the shape of a star. Once the glue has dried and our star is properly assembled, we will paint it in the colour we will choose and leave it to dry. Once dry, we can take our “starfish” home.
  • Activity: “What’s hidden in the ice?”: We will make ice cubes and put different objects in the tray before freezing the water such as toy fish, pompoms, etc. The children will have to melt the ice until they find the fish.
  • Activity: “Shark in the bottle”: We will build and decorate our own shark with recycled material (bottles, string, etc.). Then, we will play with it by putting fish in its mouth.
  • Activity: “Yoga for children”: We will be teaching different postures and relax to marine sounds.
  • Activity: “We learn the song I am a Fish”: We will be learning a new song every week. During this first week, the following song was selected:

Up, down. Swimming through the sea

Up, down. Swimming through the sea

And now we clap our hands

And now we clap our hands

I’m a fish and I’m swimming through the sea

My best friend is a squid

I’m small and I like to play with the waves

I’m naughty and I make my mummy mad

And I surf on a starfish

My biggest dream is to fly, oh, oh, oh,

Up, down. (chorus)

I’m a fish and I’m swimming in the sea

(I’m a fish that swims, swims, swims, swims through the sea)

My best friend is a squid

  • Experimental activity: “Making a volcano”: We will paint a brown glass to simulate our volcano, then we will pour vinegar into it and very carefully add some baking soda. What will happen? We will be observing how the vinegar changes from a liquid to a gaseous state. We have built our own volcano!
  • Film activity: “Finding Nemo”: We will watch the film on the world’s bravest clownfish.
  • Gymkhana games, races, water pistol games in water-inspired costumes and other games.
  • Performing arts: We will be performing part of the story of “Finding Nemo” (theatre, puppet show).
  • Activities in nature: we will take care of our garden and every child will have a plant of their own.

2ND WEEK, FROM 12 TO 16 JULY: “THE LITTLE MERMAID”.

3RD WEEK, FROM 19 TO 23 JULY: “THE SHARK-SCARECROW”.

4TH WEEK, FROM 26 TO 30 JULY: “THE ANGRY OCTOPUS”.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

During our camp, we will maintain our safety protocol and we can say that it has proved to be very effective during the schoolyear, as we have not once had to confine any of our classrooms. Children will be grouped in safety bubbles, with very limited places and no mixing of bubbles already established during the school year (our youngest ones from 0-3 years old will also enjoy all the programming of the camp “Discovering stories”).

Documentation to be submitted:

  • Registration form and SEPA order.
  • Protection of Personal Data Act authorisation for data and pictures.
  • COVID Protocol

In order to respect our bubbles, as soon as the classroom’s full capacity is reached, no more children will be admitted.

DON’T MISS OUR SUMMER CAMP!

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL!
